How Long Does the IVF Process Actually Take? A Step-by-Step Timeline

Fertility care Kindle Womb

Preparing for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) involves planning not just emotionally and financially, but also scheduling your life around a medical calendar. A common question among couples is: How long does the IVF process actually take?

This detailed step-by-step timeline breaks down a single standard cycle so you can plan confidently with Kindle Womb IVF in Jaipur.

Phase 1: Pre-Cycle Diagnostics (2 to 4 weeks)

Before stimulation medications begin, a complete infertility assessment is carried out. This includes hormone profile tests, semen analysis, and uterine evaluations to customize your treatment protocol.

Phase 2: Ovary Stimulation & Monitoring (8 to 14 days)

This marks the official start of the IVF cycle. Hormone injections are administered daily to stimulate the development of multiple egg follicles. You will visit our IVF Center in Jaipur every 2 to 3 days for follicle monitoring.

Phase 3: Egg Retrieval & Fertilization (1 day)

Once follicles are mature, a trigger shot is given. The retrieval procedure occurs 36 hours later, taking about 20 minutes under light sedation. Eggs are combined with sperm on the same day in the lab.

Phase 4: Embryo Culture & Optional Testing (3 to 5 days)

Fertilized embryos are cultured in specialized incubators. If Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is planned, a cell biopsy is taken on Day 5 and embryos are frozen while genetic results are processed.

Phase 5: Embryo Transfer (1 day)

For a fresh cycle, the transfer is performed 3 to 5 days after retrieval. For a frozen cycle, the transfer is scheduled during the next cycle (usually 4 to 6 weeks later) to allow the uterine lining to prepare optimally.

A pregnancy test is performed 10 to 12 days following the transfer.

Conclusion

In total, a standard single fresh IVF cycle spans approximately 4 to 6 weeks from start to transfer. Rest assured that our team works closely with you to manage your time and treatments seamlessly.
